Charleston Smith amassed 4.8 million TikTok followers as a 16-year-old high school student.

Now 17, Smith is applying what he learned from building a successful social media operation to his latest venture: Vantr, a productivity management platform designed to help content creators manage the business side of their work.

The idea grew out of his own experience on TikTok, where his lyric videos gained traction in the algorithm, building a substantial following. At its peak, Smith said the account generated approximately $100,000 in revenue and attracted interest from artists, brands and other content creators seeking promotional opportunities.

Moreover, with more than 117,000 followers on his personal TikTok account and another 75,000 on a secondary lyric account, Smith was managing a full-fledged social media operation while still in high school.

Smith’s rise on TikTok gave him insight into the administrative workload shouldered by content creators. Managing content schedules, recording sessions, brand partnerships and other responsibilities proved time-consuming. As his audience grew, Smith found it increasingly challenging to manage his daily schedule.

At the time, he was tracking tasks manually on a whiteboard while experimenting with digital productivity tools like Notion.

His search for solutions led him to develop his own. After graduating early from high school, Smith co-founded Vantr, a productivity management platform tailored for content creators.

“Creators' problem is trying to run the business side when creating content for them is the fun part,” Smith said. “Having to manage all of that is the hard part.”

Vantr brings social media platforms, email services and payment systems together in one place, allowing creators to schedule posts, monitor performance analytics and manage brand partnerships.

Smith said Vantr differentiates itself from other social media management platforms through its creator-first approach. While platforms like Hootsuite also offer social media management tools, Vantr focuses on helping individual creators manage sponsorship income, contracts, promotional obligations and payments.

Vantr’s automated brand partnership management system is one of its primary selling points. When a brand emails a creator a promotional offer, Vantr is designed to identify the offer immediately and automatically add it to the creator’s dashboard. From there, creators can track the partnership through payment, allowing them to manage the process without switching between multiple applications.

According to its website, Vantr currently supports 18 integrations, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, PayPal and Stripe. The company plans to add 19 more, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, ChatGPT, Venmo and Shopify.

Smith said the platform’s goal is to cut down on the time creators spend on administrative tasks, letting them focus more on producing content.

“It's streamlining the whole creator business,” Smith told Middle Tech.

Vantr operates on a subscription-based model, offering a free version alongside paid plans starting at $12 per month. Its $29 monthly Pro plan includes brand partnership management and financial tracking features.

Smith believes his founding team’s youth gives them a competitive edge, allowing them to move quickly and approach challenges with determination. At 17, Smith is the youngest of Vantr’s three co-founders, alongside Caleb Gottfried, 20, and Liam Loftus, 18.

“I think our age doesn't define us, and our age is definitely what's keeping us motivated, and that's giving us resilience as well,” Smith said.

Vantr is currently in its soft-launch phase, with Smith targeting a public release in the coming months. Upon release, Vantr will be available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
