About Middle Tech

Middle Tech covers Kentucky's innovation economy: the startups building here, the companies growing fastest and the entrepreneurs buying established businesses to grow them.

We started in 2018 as a podcast and have published more than 300 conversations with founders and investors. Today Middle Tech is also a newsroom, with a full-time reporter covering the state and a newsletter every Wednesday.

The idea behind it hasn't changed: a startup ecosystem needs its own press. We're bullish on Kentucky and honest about where it stands, so we cover the shutdowns along with the raises.
